Motivational's move into Retail Logistics began by taking a very cautious approach to ensure we understood the Retail logistics industry and above all get a total overview of the Retailer's requirements. Our findings were that not only are there a tremendous number of varied requirements that had to be met but that no two retailers had the same requirements.
In our study of the industry it was clear early on that to provide our clients the flexibility they needed and have all the EDI requirements dictated by the varied Retailers we would need to develop systems to fully integrate with any EDI provider. It also became clear after working with various EDI companies that there was a need to find a VAN who had the proven ability to service every retailer's individual EDI needs. DI Central was our VAN of choice and it has been proven to be a very successful, reliable and flexible relationship.
The next step of evolvement into Retail Logistics was to understand the needs of our customers. Visibility, consistency, timeliness and accuracy were the top initiatives that had to be deployed. This led to a quick conclusion that any of the off the shelf Warehouse Management Systems were not going to work as they could not be modified enough and limited our ability to provide flexibility for our customers.
We soon realized that to continue being in the forefront of this ever expanding industry a continuing investment in the expansion of our proprietary WMS System was eminent. Today our warehouse is outfitted with sophisticated equipment and the newest technology utilizing true real time Radio Frequency scanning and printing, thereby allowing immediate visibility to our customers for receiving, order preparation status, departure information, freight costs and inventory status. All visible in real time and accessible by our clients from Motivational's Client WMS website via the web, anywhere and anytime..
Flexible industry changes and upgrades to meet our customer's needs are provided by our WMS programming staff who addresses these ever changing requirements on a daily basis. The interface between our WMS System and its outside trading partners is a continuing challenge of upgrades and monitoring in order to maintain a reputation of sustaining a high standard of accuracy and reliability.
In 2004 Motivational was selected as one of the top 10 Logistics providers to Wal-Mart and an award winner with Target as our client list continues to grow our list of retailers expands to include the top 100 retailers in the country.

Inventory Control
Overview

Radio Frequency (RF) live data scanners are used through the day providing updates to our customers.
Search functions provide flexibility of information, by allowing the user to search in any combination they can think of to gain the necessary inventory totals.
Single or combined warehouse totals allow off site maintenance of inventory.
Inventory is received and stored by Item ID this unique identification stays with the item and gives a detail history of all transactions associated.
Item ID's are also tracked by received date which allows for FIFO inventory control.
Item ID's are scanned to locations allowing full traceability.

Receiving
Overview
Arrival and Receive functions are performed to ensure inventory accuracy and to provide inventory visibility and control.
These activities are coordinated to ensure optimum flow of product into, throughout and out of the warehouse.
WMS provides the tools to efficiently execute these housekeeping tasks.

Order Processing
Overview
Packing List and Departure Instructions generated electronically or manually from clients information and given a unique WMS departure ID.
Departure ID bar code links scanned Item ID's to provide inventory control as orders progress from picking to shipping.
QA check points built in.
System warnings advise users when departure ordered amount is different than scanned amount.
Easy drill down monitoring of orders.

Shipments can be billed and then committed. Once committed, they are removed from the shipping report unless the "show billed" box is checked.
